Pakistan, Punjab

A province-wide Vehicle Inspection and certification program.

Opus operates the Punjab Vehicle Inspection and Certification System (PVICS) for inspection of public service vehicles, including taxis, rickshaws and buses, under an exclusive 20-year contract. When fully implemented, the program will operate a network of inspection stations of varying sizes throughout the province inspecting over 625,000 vehicles, twice per year.

All inspected vehicles receive a unique windscreen sticker, which contains an embedded RFID tag, allowing law enforcement officials to access its inspection status. The stickers are fraud-proof and can’t be duplicated. Data stored within the stickers is associated uniquely with the vehicles, and can be read remotely for identification and enforcement purposes.
