Rhode Island Emissions and Safety Testing

Supporting decentralized safety and emission testing through 300 inspection stations.

Opus has managed the Rhode Island Emissions and Safety Testing Program, a state-wide program, since 2007. The network of 300 decentralized inspection stations performs on-board diagnostic (OBD) emission testing on 365,000 vehicles annually. To improve efficiency, we have developed a handy mobile tablet that inspectors can use to speed up their work.

Opus also provides a cloud-based data management system, with a state-of-the-art communications network, as well as call center support for inspection stations, repair technicians and the motoring public. We also carry out a fleet evaluation each year using our remote sensing technology to measure emissions from the roadside as vehicles drive by.
