State of Maryland extends the vehicle inspection contract to Envirotest

Envirotest, Corp., subsidiary of Opus Inspection, has received an extension of its contract to provide Vehicle Emissions Inspection Program services for the State of Maryland, Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA).  The amendment will extend the contract until September 30, 2019.

Since 1992, Envirotest has managed the Maryland program and currently operates 18 centralized inspection stations, with a total of 81 lanes. The company’s services include provision of a host computer with a fully integrated data acquisition and reporting system for the stations, MVA, and the Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE).

Maryland’s Motor Vehicle Emissions Inspection Program tests 1.7 million vehicles annually for auto emissions in the Baltimore-Washington corridor. The value of the amendment for the five year renewal period of the contract is not to exceed $64,084,272. All other terms and conditions in the original contract remain in effect.

“We are very grateful that MVA has extended the contract for another five years,” said Jim Sands, President of Opus Inspection. “The confidence that MVA has placed in our management and operations team reflects our dedication to providing the highest quality service to our customers and motoring public.”
